Important Reminders:
There is NO SCHOOL for students on Friday, November 28 due to Parent/Teacher/Students Learning Conferences.

PARENT / TEACHER / STUDENT LEARNING CONFERENCES
The Parent / Teacher / Student Learning Conference booking system is now open to families on Monday. Families can book a 15-minute slot with the homeroom teacher during the available times. All bookings will be done through your parent MyCBE account.
Conferences times are as follows:
Thursday, November 27 from 4:30 – 7:45 (for Kinder to Grade Five)
Friday, November 28 from 9:15 – 2:00 (for Kinder to Grade Five)
You should have received an email from the booking system when it opened on November 17.
This week we:
- had a practice fire drill. When the alarm went off, we exited the building quickly and quietly and met at our meeting spot
- learned to read consonant blends at the beginning and end of words. Consonant blends happen when two consonants are next to each other and they still make their own sound. Some examples of consonant blends are:
Ask you child to read the following words:
- learned the heart word: 'are', 'do', 'from', 'look', 'like', 'some', 'come'
- imagined that we found a secret garden behind our school. We brainstormed lots of ideas, drew a picture and then wrote a few simple sentences about our secret garden
- began literacy rotations where we practice reading and writing skills through hands on activities and games
- learned about the importance of the quantity of zero. We told stories about when we might have zero of something. We also discussed the importance of zero to hold the place in numbers like '10', '20' and '100'.
- practiced counting a variety of objects in groups of tens.
- began math stations where we practice a variety of numeracy and geometry skills independently and in small groups through activities and games
- practiced many different skills to play a game of soccer such as dribbling, trapping and bouncing the ball off our knees.
- Ask your child what game we played in gym with the following equipment. Ask them how to play this game!
