Important Reminders:
January 30 – No classes (Non-Instruction Day)
February 4 – Winter Walk Day (We will share details of what they are doing for this day closer to the date)
February 11 – SPIRIT DAY: Pink or Red Day
February 11 – Popcorn Fundraiser delivery (Orders can be placed at healthyhunger.ca up to February 7)
February 12 and 13 – NO SCHOOL – Teachers’ Convention
February 16 – NO SCHOOL – Family Day
This week, we:
- learned the new Lively Letter sound 'or', like in the words 'form' and 'short'. Have your child read the words and sentence below!
- learned the new Lively Letter sound 'ar', like in the words 'farm' and 'chart'. See if your child can read the words and sentences below!
- completed a writing warm up to help us practice writing words and warm up our writing brains!
- read the story "The Biggest Snowman Ever" and practiced finding the 'gist' of the story (the main idea or most important idea in the story). Students drew a picture and wrote a sentence or two to represent the gist of the story
- worked with a partner to practice using skip counting to count groups of objects
- practiced changing the properties of playdoh and paper by doing things such as bending, twisting, folding, stretching and cutting these materials
- learned about the oral traditions of Indigenous people and how they shared stories about various places in Alberta (such as Okotok rock and Lake Louise) to share the importance of these places
- continued to practice basketball skills such as shooting the ball!
