March 23 to March 27 - NO SCHOOL for Spring Break
This week we:
- learned the new Lively Letter sound 'oo'. In fact, 'oo' has two different sounds! We read words and sentences with these new sounds. Ask your child to read you some of the words and phrases below.
- reviewed the heart words: find, how, write and use
- learned how to use our five senses (sight, smell, hearing, taste and touch) to describe a variety of objects and pictures around the classroom
- used sensory language to write to add detail to our super sentences
- used super sentences and our five senses to write about some interesting pictures
- began new literacy rotations this week
- practiced drawing pictures to help us add numbers together
- learned another new addition strategy - flip flop (also known as communitive properties) and used dominoes to help us understand this new concept
- began to explore the addition strategy "Friends of 10" and how knowing these facts will help us add numbers quickly! We used blocks to help us investigate the "Friends of 10" facts!
- learned what scientists do, what scientific investigations are and how to use the scientific process/method to do experiments through various different videos. This will help us to do our own experiments over the next few months!
- documented our learning about Canadian symbols in our visual journal
- continued to practice hockey skills, including stick handling, passing and shooting, in gym
