Hello families,
IMPORTANT note from Mrs. Brinson:
As we begin planning for the upcoming school year, we kindly ask that you complete the Enrolment Intentions Form in your MyCBE Parent Account within SchoolEngage. This form will show the school your child is designated to attend next year. See Mrs. Brinson's email for more details. To fill in the form, please go here: https://northernlights.cbe.ab.ca/news/complete-your-enrolment-intentions-form-20260416181648
Important Reminders:
May 7 - Food Impact Nutrition Program (Please see the form that was sent home to families on Monday, sign it and return it to school) This is a snack and does not replace your child's regular lunch. Please send their regular snack and lunch with them on this day.
Skills to practice at home:
- skip counting by 2s to 20. Your child can look at these numbers while they are learning but then have then do it without looking when they are ready.
This week we:
- learned how adding an '-ed' to the end of a verb shows that the action already happened in the past. There are three different rules as to how to pronounce the 'ed' sound:
- if the final sound of the verb is voiced (noisy) the 'ed' says /d/.
- If the final sound of the verb is unvoiced (quiet) the 'ed' says /t/.
Ask your child to read these sentences:
- If the final sound of the verb is a 't' or 'd' the 'ed' says /ed/.
Ask your child to read these sentences:
- read books and watched videos to learn about a goose's body parts and how they survive. Next, we made jot notes on our graphic organizer and then used it to write interesting sentences about geese.
- reviewed the heart words: gym, giant, right.
- continued to create concrete graphs together and then use the data to make our own pictographs. We used the data in our pictographs to answer questions such as "Which group has more?", "Which group has less?", "How many students chose a particular group?", etc.
- worked through science stations that focused on giving, ordering and following instructions using verbal commands, pictures and technology.
- continued discussing culture and practiced identifying and sorting items and pictures that would fit into categories such as clothing, language, food, celebrations and art
- learned about Earth Day and the importance of taking care of our earth through read alouds, videos, songs and discussions. Ask your child about things they can do and things your family can do to help take care of our earth.
- continued to practice learning drumFIT routines with Mr. Newton! This week, we also got a chance to make our own routine with a group and practice it together. Some of us even got a chance to share our routine with the whole class!
